Today is a venting blog so bare with me!!
I had a friend and for names sake we will call her 'Lisa'
Lisa and I met in college. I stood up in her wedding. A few years ago when Lisa got married she moved to North Carolina and then Colorado. (Her husband at the time was in the military) Lisa also has a 3yr old son.
Recently I posted on my facebook that I was going to see my nephew Henry for the first time. Lisa recently got divorced from her husband and moved back to Wisconsin. My brother and sister in law (who had Henry) live close to Lisa. Probably about 30 mins away from each other. Lisa wrote on my facebook, "hmm I wonder if you were going to text me and let me know you were in the area?"
At this point, I became EXTREMELY annoyed. First of all, not everything is about you Lisa. That particular day was about Henry. It was my first nephew and the first time I was going to meet him. Instead of saying something like "hey congrats" or "how exciting" she had to make it COMPLETELY about herself.
This isn't the first time that Lisa has done this either. Now granted when Lisa was going thru her divorce I wasn't there for her as much as I should have been. And I regret that. With that being said though, when Lisa and I speak on the phone it's all about her. She never asks how I'm doing, my family, my husband, our struggles with infertility, nothing. It's just all about her and her life. I just thought that friendship was a 2 way street. I show interest in her life and situations and I just wish she would do the same for me. When she calls she tells me all about her life and then the conversation ends there. I mean we used to be so close in college...when I went through this awful awful break up with my first boyfriend she was there for me. We used to have 'sleepovers' in our dorm rooms and stay up all night talking, laughing, etc. I miss that so much. It just seems things have changed so much between us...
Ok, well I apologize for the debbie downer post but I just needed to vent...tomorrow I will be linking up for my favorite post, Pinteresting Wednesday!!
