My first ever blog award!!

Anyway, I am SO excited because sweet Mrs. Z from http://theztree.blogspot.com/ has given me my first ever blog award. WOOHOO! Thank you so much Mrs. Z. Check out her blog if you can. She is a sweetheart and I wish she would blog more then she does because I LOVE reading about her life story! Thanks again!!

Recipients of this award are asked to:
1. Thank the person that nominated them for the award with a link back to their blog.
2. List 7 things about themselves.
3. Award 15 newly discovered blogs of your own and notify them.

Here are 7 things about ME:
1. My husband and I met on match.com (best desicion of my life).
2. I love History. US History in High School absolutely fascinated me. I felt like a huge nerd at the time. To embarrassed to say because it's not something girls usually say but I don't care now.
3. My first love was Randy. We dated for 2 years, and after he broke up with me I was in an extremely dark place. Slept a lot, cried all the time. Lost of appetite, and very self harming to myself and from that came the strongest person out of that...me.
4.I'm one of the most sensitive people you will ever meet. "I wear my heart on my sleeve". I tend to take things personally.
5. 2 brother's & 2 sisters. I loved growing up in a big family. I wouldn't trade any of them for anything. Being between 2 boys I was kind of a tom boy when I was little. Words can't express what they mean to me.
6.  I have OCD when it comes to shopping. Then again what girl doesn't? I still have clothes in my closet that have tags on them.
7. Strength. I have the Japanese symbol for strength tattooed on my right ankle. Think what you want about tattoos and what not. It means something to me. It might sound lame but sometimes when I worry myself sick or get worked up I look down and it and just say in my head "strength" god give me the strength. I know I can do this...whatever "this" is
Here are my 15 nominees in no particular order (these are not necessarily newly discovered blogs, just blogs I follow & love):
2.) Miranda...@ http://diesunddas33.blogspot.com/...I don't except you to do this again ;)
4.)Laura @http://lifeoflu-lu.blogspot.com/

**Ladies have fun!! I LOVE reading all your blogs daily!!**

It's Ok...

...that I plan on going to the mall today and if I come home with clothes my husband will say "did you really need that" if he was smart he would know not to ask that ;)

...to be really excited that I get to babysit my neice Ally on Tuesday

....that Ally said, "hi Atie" when I go to Skype with her last night (she said hi katie) but in her cute voice!

...that I bought 'Owl Keys' for my key chain. (There little owls that go over your actual keys)

...that I can't put down the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (there are 18 books so far and I read the first one in one day!)

Some of my Favorites

I'm borrowing this idea for 'some of my favorites from Kelly at 'Small Town Girl'..you gave me an idea thank you!!

Here are some of my favorite things in general

My favorite color would have to be Grey or Black
Ok not the most brightest of colors but they look semi descent on me. My husband says I need to find other colors to wear because all of my closet is filled with grey or black.

My favorite movie is: Forrest Gump
Believe me when I say I have a ton of movies that I love so it's really hard for me to just pick one. But this movie makes me laugh and cry all at the same time. I think Tom Hanks does such an outstanding performance in this moive...in close second was the help!

My favorite book is: Love the One Your With by Emily Giffin or The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
Love the One Your With is such a light easy read. In a sense the book kind of spoke to me too. I understood where the main character was coming from. The Help is a fantastic book. I couldn't put it down. You will laugh with the characters, cry with them, and get angry. Although this book isn't based on a specific true story I'm sure things like this happened down South in those times. I highly recommend either of these books! You won't be dissapointed!

Favorite Store: Forever 21, Old Navy or Maurices
Yes this is more then one, lol. I usually get my jeans because they carry the Silver brand and those tend to fit me the best...I have wide hips so it's hard to find a jean that fits my hips. lol. Forever 21 has great accessories. I tend to get a lot of my rings and necklaces there. They have a lot of fun tops too. Old Navy is either hit or miss for me. If I go there I either find stuff that I love or hate. I like Old Navy too because there prices for things are right in the middle...not to exspensive and sometimes you can find good buys in the clearance section!

Well that's it for now...I need to go back to bed since I work at 6pm tonight! *yuck* Happy Monday ya'll!!

Stepping Out of my Comfort Zone

So tomorrow (Friday) I scheduled a hair appointment to get all over bright red and bright blonde highlights/lowlights....

I'm nervous and excited! I've never done something like this before but decided I wanted a change. I am getting sick of my hair now...I'm hoping to have it look something like this:

I told my boss last night at work (who does very bold things with her hair...think Kate Gosling) and she said go for it...you can always change it if you don't like it!

Something like this (not the hairstyle the color)
I'm just going to do it...I'm not going to tell my husband either because I want him to be suprised when he sees it! What do you think? I will hopefully be able to take a picture tomorrow and show you guys!

Talking about the Weekend

I hope everyone had a good weekend! I was just going to talk about mine!

Friday-
Nothing exciting really happened. I had to work at the jail 6p-6a. I did however get to see the movie 'The Debt'. I wasn't to thrilled to watch it because I didn't think it was going to be good but it turned out to be a good movie!

Saturday-
Nothing really exciting happen on Saturday either. lol. I worked again at the jail but it was my short night 6p-2a.  I watched the Season Finale of 'Six Feet Under' It's a different kind of show, very weird but in a strange way addicting. I'm dissapointed though because they don't have it on Instant Netflix so I wo uld have to buy the seasons but I don't know if I will like the show?! Anyone seen the show? Like it?

Sunday-
Ugh....what to say. I went to my bcf's house (fellow blogger) and we watched the Packer game. I don't know if anyone saw the game but they lost..bad. However with that being said I still love my Green Bay Packers and I still think they had a good year. 15-2 for a record I can't complain. At my cousins we had some really great food too. Packer cupcakes, buffalo chicken dip, cheesy beef dip, veggies, fruit, chips...oh so good! After the sad loss of the Packers...we watched the 'Golden Globe Awards' . It was great to watch and Octavia Spencer won for The help which made me happy and Modern Family won as well.

My cousin and I spent the rest of the night drinking, watching tv and playing words with friends. (That game is ADDICTING!)

Overall it was a good weekend (ok minus working and the Packers losing)
Today I found this awesome app for your Iphone or Ipad. ( I use it for my Ipad because I don't have an Iphone) The app is called 'Cuptake'

I bought it for .99 cents. They have so many cute Ipad backgrounds. I love it. Buy the app if you can...you won't be disappointed! They have owl backgrounds which I love owls! (If you ever know where I can buy anything with owls let me know)

Well that's about it here! Leave me comments! I love to hear from you guys!! :)

It's Fill in the Blank Friday!

1.   My favorite thing about this week was/is     Buying a new book and my cousin saying it was ok for me to come over Sunday:)  .

2.   Colder weather makes me   non productive. When it's really cold like this all I want to do is lay around the house and watch tv or read a book. I don't feel 'inspired' to do anything.

3.  Three things that make me terribly happy as of late are    hanging out with my bcf on Sunday, the Packer game Sunday (although I am really nervous about that too)and having a college get together next weekend   .

4. If I could only wear one kind of shoe for the rest of my life, I'd choose    hmmm I would say my brown flats or my uggs they are just comfy   .

5.  My personality type is    shy I guess? Or nice but I'm really just trying to figure you out to see if I like you .

6.  I have a serious problem resisting     buying stuff at the store that I don't need. I always come home with stuff that wasn't on 'the list'  .

7.  My favorite color to wear is    black and grey. Oh and my new Packer jersey I got (um even though that's not a color haha)

Linked up with Laura for this!

Talking About Movies

Today I thought that I would talk about movies. It's blowing snow and one of those days where you just want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and watch a movie or read a book. I am a movie junkie...seriously I need to go to like movie watchers anonymous if they have it! lol.

Here are some of the movies I have recently seen that I would highly recommend!

Crazy Stupid Love
I love Emma Stone in general so I was really excited to see this movie. I bought it the day it came out. It's hilarious romantic comedy which are my favorite movie genere anyway. Plus Ryan Gosling is uber hot in this movie as well ;)

The Help
I first read the book which I loved! I recommend reading the book first and then watching the movie. You will laugh, cry, become angry when the characters are angry. etc. Again, Emma Stone is in this movie and she plays one of the main characters named, 'Rita Skeeter'.

I Don't Know How She Does It
I don't think this movie got great reviews but I absoutley enjoyed it! It's a light fun family kind of movie. Sarah Jessica Parker (an actress I adore) stars in it as a Mom who lives in New York. She tries to balance her kids who are begging for attention from her and her work which has her head up a very big project.

Have you seen any of these movies? Did you like them? Any movies you have seen recently that you would recommend?

Blowin' off Steam

Today I'm going to share a situation that has been happening at work. It's been bothering me for awhile and I just need to get it off my chest. For the sake of the people involved in the story I am going to change their names...even though they don't know about this blog.

Background information: I work for a Sheriff's Department in Wisconsin. I am corrections officer in a jail that houses about 215 inmates. I work the night shift and there are 3 other females on my shift with me and about 5 males.

About 2 weeks ago we had a food night at work on our night shift. We shared with the people in dispatch. Everyone brought something in to eat and we kept all the food in the front break room so everyone had acsess to the food. (The people in dispatch can't come back in to the jail because they have to be close in case they get a 911 call)

A girl I work with, we will call her 'Judy' brought in ice cream, root beer soda, whip cream, cherries, etc. She thought people could have root beer floats or make a sundae. At 10pm I went up to the front break room to make a root beer float but when I opened the freezer there wasn't any ice cream (yes this story revolves around ice cream, unbelieveable) I went back in to the jail and aske 'Judy' where the ice cream was and she said 'Todd' a fellow Corrections Officer took it in to the jail and put it on 3rd Floor breakroom and that our Sergeant told him he needed to put it back up front so the people in dispatch could have some too...

I then went up to 3rd floor and ask 'Todd' (hand to God) in a joking manner and said, "Todd did you bring the ice cream to the 3rd floor break room?!" 'Todd' turned around and said to me "God Katie don't fucking worry about it, if you don't seem to have something to bitch about your not happy" At this point I was so taken aback I didn't know what to say. I was joking...why was he yelling at me? I then told 'Todd' that the Sergeant said he needed to bring it back down to the front break room...'Todd' said "why don't you go whine to the Sergeant and tell her I took the ice cream, don't you have somewhere else to be? Your not wanted up here, no one wants you up here" (There were 2 other officers in the control pod with us who were dead silent while this was happening) All I could mutter was 'shut up Todd'. That's when the tears begin to fill my eyes. Not wanting 'Todd' to see me cry I went back down to first floor and began crying to another female officer and my Sergeant. (Not my proudest moment but I was upset) They said ignore him, he's a jerk, and got me to calm down. Another officer overheard and said to me, "Look I only cry over people who matter to me, and I KNOW 'Todd' doesn't matter to you. He isn't worthy of your tears" That made me feel better.

I guess I just thought this was ridicoulous! I mean it was over ice cream and I was joking! But to me it was more then that.

I always feel that I have to prove myself to the guys. These are some of the things that 'Todd' has said to me..and yes this is true: I couldn't makes this stuff up if I wanted too...

"Katie everytime you eat a chip I just see you getting fatter"
"How does your husband feel knowing he settled for mediocer" (sp?)
"I would never want you to back me up in a fight, I would always choose one of the male officer's before you"
"This isn't a women's job, they are too emotional"
"The buttons on your shirt are just screaming to be let out"

I take crap from him all the time because it's kind of a mans world in the jail. I know if I went to the Captain or Human Resources that they would do something but then I just ratted on a fellow officer and I would put another wedge between us. This man can make me feel like the smallest bug to be crushed. My self esteem is already on the floor and when he says things like this to me I just sit there and try to laugh it off but in the inside I'm hating myself...

I don't know why I wrote this...it's just been on my mind and needed to write it out...sorry it was so long and that it's a depressing blog, lol.
Anyway, happy Wednesday everybody! Those Wisconsin-nites watch out for all that snow tonight and tomorrow!!
